Werner "20 Extension ladder"  
Werners labeling on this ladder (and probably their other extension ladders) is deceptive. It is listed as a 20 foot ladder. Additionally the "maximum reach" is listed as 19 feet. However when the ladder is fully extended it is only 17 feet long. The two individual segments if laid end-to-end are 20 feet long. The "maximum reach" assumes someone of 56" height is standing at the highest recommended rung (IOW their height combined with the ladder). Why does Werner use such ambiguous specifications? Wouldnt it be a lot more simple and intuitive to list the maximum extended length to be 17 feet? : 2010-09-15 11:43:48

28 version -- Dont forget to eat your Wheaties  
I bought the 28 foot ladder when it was eligible for Amazon Prime shipping. Paid the exact same amount from Amazon as I would have from Home Depot. But since I dont own a car that will tote a 28 ladder from Home Depot the Amazon Prime shipping was a no-brainer. Im glad I bought the 28 version for my homes 20 roof. When accounting for the lean and the necessary overhang at the top a 24 ladder may have worked but it would have been close. I didnt want to risk buying something too short because I wasnt going to be able to return it.

The most notable feature of this ladder is that its deceptively heavy. I didnt anticipate its weight or its unwieldiness. Good luck propping this against the second story of your home without a helper. But its not the ladders fault that Im not a professional roofer nor a gym rat and therefore dont have the technique nor the biceps to easily manage this piece of equipment. I gave it 4 stars because its sturdy and seems like it will last fo : 2010-09-15 11:43:48

I knew this was the ladder I wanted. Could have bought it locally but didnt have to pay for shipping or sales tax with Amazon. When the first ladder arrived it was damaged and totally unusable. I refused the shipment and notified Amazon. The shipment refusal was verified and Amazon immediately had another ladder on its way to me. Second ladder was actually packaged better than the first one and arrived with no damage. I have had nothing but positive experiences buying from Amazon and will continue to buy from them. Cant beat the tax exemptions and their free shipping is awesome! : 2010-09-15 11:43:48

Great ladder but I need to either work out for find some strong friends  
Great price and free delivery through Amazon was great...no way could I have gotten this beast home from Lowes or Home Depot with my car.

But my God it is heavy and difficult to extend if youre your average couch potato like me. I bought the optional rubber grips for the ends...which may be added to the problem. I tried extending up the outside wall of a cedar-side house and the rubber feet didnt "slide" as I was trying to extend it so had to try pulling the ladder away from the wall while simultaneously pushing up the extension. Im just not strong enough to do this. Ill try taking the rubber protective feet off tomorrow to see if that helps.

I probably should have bought the 28 model (which would have been big enough for my use) but for some reason at the time I ordered the 32 one was cheaper. : 2010-09-15 11:43:48

I should have listened to all the other reviews. I took the day off work and waited for it to be delivered since they called a few days earlier to set up a delivery time. They did not come to my house nor did they call to say it wasnt being delivered for any reason. I took my chance with this freight company and got burned like many of the other reviewers that have thing delivered by this company. (STRIKE ONE)

UPDATE:

I email Amazon on Tuesday night way after delivery time and get the following response:
"Hello from Amazon.com.

While researching your order I noticed you wrote to us shortly before Ceva confirmed that your shipment was delivered yesterday.
